What's new in the iPad 2

Apple's Latest tablet is out,but do you know how it's better or what's wrong with it?Read this to know everything about it.

Apple’s next-gen tablet is back to make the competition quake in its boots... again. This time it has managed to squeeze more power into a thinner shell while keeping prices in check. It’s a push that should hold off the competition and critics for another year.

RINGING IN THE NEW The iPad 2 is faster than its predecessor fast enough to make it better for creating music, video and other content, rather than just consuming it. The iPad 2 is also thinner – 8.8mm, instead of the current 13.4mm. With a new
accessory, people can connect the tablet to televisions, so they can watch HD videos on the bigger screen. The same can be done with the current generation of iPod Touch and iPhone.
The next-gen iPad will cost the same as the originals between $499 to $829 (between Rs 22,450 to Rs 37,300 approx), depending on storage space and whether they can connect to the Internet over a cellular network. Apple will add a white model to the current black.

The iPad 2 also has two cameras a front facing VGA camera and a back facing 720p capable HD camera. Apple also announced new software for the iPad, including a version of iMovie
for video editing and a version of its music software GarageBand which are both priced at $4.99 (Rs 230 approx). It includes instruments that can be played by touching the screen.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH IT?
There are a few things that aren’t right with the iPad 2. Firstly, the screen size and resolution have remained the same, with the 1080p video playability it would be nice to have a higher resolution screen if not a bigger one.

Apple has once again played spoilsport by not including a MicroSD slot or a USB port let alone a high speed thunderbolt port. Finally, there is no change in the storage options for the iPad which still comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB formats, a 128GB or even a 256GB would be a welcomed addition to the line up.

PRICE CUT FOR THE OLD Apple’s online store has begun selling the original models for $100 (Rs 4,500 approx) off, starting at $399. Hopefully the new pricing will
trickle down to India.

Apple also introduced updates to the software that runs on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. The company said the update, iOS 4.3, will work on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 models.

Among other things, the new system turns iPhones and iPads with 3G cellular connections into personal WiFi hotspots, so you can share the connection with computers or other devices.

Rumours are that the iPad 2 might launch in India around June and September according to online tech chatter. The previous iPad was launched only a few months ago at the same time as South Africa and UAE, so the company might reduce the rate.
In India the higher end iPads are doing relatively well and they might hold the key to a quick iPad 2 launch in India, but we can only hope.
